Cynthia Quainoo, M.D.
Cynthia Quainoo, M.D is a native of Newark, New Jersey and was born to immigrant parents from Ghana, West Africa. She studied biology at Smith College where she graduated with honors before earning her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. Then she returned to her hometown of Newark and completed Internal Medicine Residency training and sub-specialty training in Transplant Hepatology at Rutgers- New Jersey School of Medicine. She relocated to Brooklyn, New York for her training in Gastroenterology/Hepatology at SUNY Downstate after which she stayed on as faculty for four years before moving on to private practice. She is passionate about health care disparities and currently focusing her energy on raising awareness about colorectal cancer screening and prevention.
Dr. Quainoo is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology/Hepatology. She is a member of NYSGE (NY Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy), ACG (American College of Gastroenterology) and AASLD (American Association for the Study of Liver Disease).
